Emergency and After Hours Care

Oh no, what to do?!

In case of a life-threatening emergency, call 911.

There are a number of excellent paediatric walk-in clinics and hospital emergency room services available for after-hours care. For further assistance with symptom-based decision making, visit the Symptom Checker on the AAP website. Should your child have a medical problem that cannot wait until the next business day, there are four options, depending on your child’s condition:

1) Call Telehealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000 for advice to help you decide if you can wait to see your paediatrician during regular office hours. If it appears necessary to see a physician right away, take your child to the Emergency Room at The Hospital for Sick Children, the Emergency Room of your nearest hospital, or one of our Paediatric Walk-In Clinics that are staffed by paediatricians and are an excellent and reliable resource.
2) Take your child to the nearest emergency room (if possible The Hospital for Sick Children at 555 University Ave. Toronto, ON, M5G 1XB).

3) Take your child to the nearest Paediatric Walk-In Clinic.
